Commentary from Lenon Honor Films: Is Hip Hop culture an accurate representation of the thought patterns, behavior patterns, creative expressions, political orientations, historical perspective, economic base, ethical principles, sexual standards, and the established norms as to male-female relationships within the African American experience? Is the musical genre that was spawned out of Hip Hop culture an accurate portrayal of the ethical, moral, political, historical, social, economic, creative, and sexual reality of African American people? This lecture/documentary explores such questions as well as addresses the various secret societies that have influenced and guided the social, moral, economic, political, and relational tenants promoted via Hip Hop music; tenants that have, in fact, impacted African American masculinity, African American male image, and the African American family institution.
